Pre-entry only for everything

This time we mean it! The closing date for the main race, the fun runs and the walk is December 5th 2008, unless we reach our race limit before that. The entry form is under the tab titled "Entries".

New for this year

As you'll know if you're one of our regulars, we always like to give you something new each year and the 2008 and 6th BDR is no different.

We now have a Boxing Day Run Forum. The password is BDR08 - with the letters in capitals.

We will be offering a new class for "walkers". This will set off before the main race, so that we can do things like the prize giving a bit earlier in the day. The walkers course will miss out the initial two laps of the rec., as we know some of you were uncomfortable with that.

We will run the Under 11s race before the main race. So running parents should be able to see at least some of their little ones running.

The way we manage photos will be a bit different. Previous years Chris Ryan has manually edited each and every photograph - which obviously is a lot of effort! To avoid this we intend to put all the "raw" images on the net and then you'll be able to buy them if you want them. You can buy the raw image or a hard copy photograph (which we will then manually edit, if the photo needs it). This also has the advantage that you can look through all the photographs of the race. [Please note that we have therefore have to say "it's a condition of entry that you allow us to use video and photo any way we want - including those of the children".]

Another new idea is for us to offer professionally printed "children's Xmas present thank you cards". The idea is that we paste a photo of Jonny or Jenny finishing the race in to a card design that we will put together. These can be ordered at the time of entry. We believe we can have these sorted and printed in time to post them out to you just after New Year.

And finally, car parking (well it wouldn't be the same if we didn't have a message about this, would it!?). With your entry you can buy a ticket for a guaranteed parking place at the rec., or a cheaper ticket where you may have to park up to 600m from the rec. If the weather is very dry, we can park everyone at the rec., but we only know that on the day. This should allow us to manage things a bit better.

And please do enter on time. It really has made things hard in the past with people entering late (we have to order more beer, more numbers etc. etc.). So this time we're going to be firm!
